Today there are numerous whitening systems available. Lasers are popular but pricey, and often result in uncomfortable sensitivity in both teeth and gum tissue due to altered enamel structure. Do-it-yourself kits with whitening strips are sticky, messy, and generally a short-term solution at best. Other choices, such as ‘Rembrandt’ kits, contain an inferior bleaching product, and because they don’t involve supervision or professional expertise, can harm the gums if inadvertently left on inappropriate amounts of time, or if applied near areas of undetected periodontal disease.

However, for our patients, Dr. Weygandt prefers the OpalEscence method’s superior materials, lack of negative side effects, and startling, lasting shade improvements. Further, by choosing a dentist-supervised system, you can be confident from the start that you’re a good candidate for whitening and that we’ll monitor the procedure to ensure that it’s progressing correctly. With our “Quick Start” in-office supervised whitening system, you’ll see results in just 60 minutes. In fact, you’ll most likely notice about a two-shade difference as indicated on Dr. Weygandt’s shade scale. We simply apply the specially formulated carbamide peroxide whitening gel, allow it to remain on your teeth for the specified amount of time, then activate the gel’s chemicals with a special irradiation light. Patients whose teeth are darkened or discolored due to age, food, beverages, and tobacco are excellent candidates for this approach.

Or, we can go another step for those patients with teeth that do not respond as thoroughly to the Quick Start system alone: we simply fabricate an at-home tray for your use after your initial office appointment. Most patients find that within 2-3 days of the nightly 6 hour sessions, (or up to 5 days for tetracycline stained teeth), they’ve achieved a two to five shade difference.

For those patients who need care up front, and wish to pay over time, we’re linked up with an excellent service called Care Credit. It works just like a healthcare credit card, with no application fee, no annual fees, and no pre-payment penalties. Care Credit allows you to finance your dental care deductible, co-pay, elective procedure, or any other non-covered portion of your dental health-care costs. The company offers several different payment plans, according to what’s best for your situation: three months same as cash, or 12.98% fixed rate interest, with a 3% minimum monthly payment. It even includes an extended payment plan for balances over $2500, giving you longer to pay if needed for more involved procedures. All without tying up your regular credit cards.

Care Credit is actually easier to obtain than most major credit cards. Simply take five minutes to fill out the application—either on-line, or while you’re at our office. We’ll call in your application, and within about 10 minutes you’ll know if you’ve qualified. Your new line of credit will be available for immediate use. Plus, your Care Credit is then available for future dental or healthcare procedures as needed.
