Our Advanced Services & Technologies
The scope of dentistry has expanded greatly over the past few decades thanks to new technology, enabling doctors like Dr. Danice Nelsen Couch to address a wider array of problems right here in our office. She and the rest of our team work hard to stay on top of and implement the latest advances in dentistry in order to better serve our patients, and you’ll experience that from your very first visit. Read on below to learn about all the things we offer that you just won’t find at your typical practice in Plano.
Sleep Apnea Therapy
Whether you think you might have sleep apnea or you’ve already received a diagnosis, we’re now able to help patients get the rest they need using custom-made oral appliances. These are designed specially for each patient, and not only will they restore your sleep, but they can help you stop snoring as well!
Your TMJ, or temporomandibular joint, is the set of hinges on your lower jaw that allows it to move fluidly whenever you eat, speak, laugh, or yawn. It can sometimes develop problems due to strain, injury, or arthritis just like any other joint, leading to symptoms like a stiff and painful jaw or frequent headaches. Dr. Danice Nelsen Couch is very familiar with diagnosing and treating these types of issues, so if you’re in pain, she’s the person to help you get out of it.
At our practice, we see nervous patients every day, so if dental care makes you a bit anxious, we completely understand. There are plenty of reasons a person might have a fear of the dentist, and we’re more than ready to help you overcome it so you can have an enjoyable dental experience. With sedation dentistry, we can help calm anxious thoughts and protect a patient from pain all at the same time.
You have the option of taking a sedative pill if you need more extensive dental work and nitrous oxide. In the end, either method will help your appointments fly by with ease.
An intraoral camera is a small, pen-sized device that allows you and your dentist to get a much better look at your mouth. It can capture highly-detailed images of your teeth and gums which can be displayed on a large nearby monitor. Basically, you’ll finally be able to see your smile from your dentist’s perspective!
Our practice uses X-rays every day to catch and diagnose dental issues below the surface of the teeth and gums, and to make this tool even better, we’ve gone fully digital. Digital X-rays can create crystal-clear images in seconds, and compared to traditional dental X-rays, they also emit up to 80% LESS radiation (which is welcome news for parents). They also make referrals and filing for insurance a breeze because the images can be sent, stored, and copied in an instant.
